DATASCOPE PREMIUM

The DATASCOPE Warehousing Management Solution (WMS) has been built specifically for operation with SYSPRO ERP and therefore is highly integrated into SYSPRO via the standard SYSPRO
e.net object layer. Although the WMS has its own MS SQL database, it holds much of its data in the standard SYSPRO
tables. The software, therefore, acts as an intelligent layer between the warehouse and factory floor operations (mobile devices) and core SYSPRO.

Over the past 22 years, DATASCOPE has invested heavily into this software suite thus building a plug-and-play solution for almost all SYSPRO
distribution and manufacturing companies. The software is completely settings driven and can therefore easily be configured to operate in many environments.

All transactions within the WMS are posted live into SYSPRO and are security controlled based on named users. Each transaction requires an operator login which authenticates all standard SYSPRO securities and logs the username against every transaction posted to SYSPRO. Further, the system maintains a detailed operator log file of key security overrides.

The software has been developed in the latest .Net development tools. All grid screens can be dynamically filtered and exported to MS Excel, converted to PDF or printed directly. Once deployment technology is used for deployment and upgrades and all software is strictly version controlled. Updates to the software are covered in the standard annual license fee structure.

BUILT FOR SYSPRO ERP

Among the many strong cases for the selecting of the DATASCOPE WMS software is the fact that the software has been developed for SYSPRO and therefore includes many features specific to SYSPRO, which no other WMS solution would offer.

INTEGRATION

The integration layer between DATASCOPE WMS and SYSPRO is impressive. All transactions posted to SYSPRO are done so on a live basis through the standard SYSPRO business objects. The error trapping of these transactions has been specifically optimized to understand and manage SYSPRO e.net responses. Features built into SYSPRO are exploited to the maximum to ensure that our clients get the full potential of the two systems in the operations.

SECURITY

As all users in DATASCOPE WMS are operators set up inside SYSPRO, we automatically apply SYSPRO’S security rights. This means that we do not have situations where a user processes a SYSPRO transaction that he or she does not have security rights to do. Also, the live transaction posting between the two systems stops the transaction before the user has even moved the goods. 14

Thousands of features that are built into the DATASCOPE software that ensure the interfacing to SYSPRO is optimal.

The list of these is way too long to add here, but just some of them are listed below:

  1. If a product is lot traceable DATASCOPE WMS will automatically manage this
  2. If a customer is placed on hold DATASCOPE will manage this
  3. If a product is selected as inspection required the DATASCOPE software will respond accordingly
  4. If a customer’s order is loaded in an alternate UOM the DATASCOPE software can automatically pick in that UOM
  5. If a product is linked to a bill of material and is a kit issue item the DATASCOPE WMS manages the kit issue process
  6. All SYSPRO sales order statuses are understood and managed by the DATASCOPE software, along with Sales Order kits reservation, picking and packing.
  7. When SYSPRO is off line during month-end processing, the DATASCOPE software recognizes this and applies the required transaction restrictions
  8. If a product is placed on hold in SYSPRO the DATASCOPE software will manage this
  9. When SYSPRO releases an updated version of their software DATASCOPE releases an updated version to operate with this software shortly thereafter
  10. If a transaction fails in SYSPRO, DATASCOPE WMS will fail this transaction and no database updates will occur. This allows the user to re-attempt the transaction without any duplication.

These items represent a very small portion of SYSPRO-specific controls. These would all present some level of complexity when interfacing with a generic WMS solution.

DATASCOPE IMPLEMENTATION METHODOLOGY

DATASCOPE prides itself on professional implementation using standard project management methodologies which include thorough documentation of the business processes.  This ensures that the implementation is feasible and sustainable.

Function Specification Document

A detailed Functional Specification document is compiled which documents every functional process and how the software handles these processes.  The client is taken through this document in detail to ensure that the proposed processes align with the business.  Once this is completed the document is approved and signed off.  The DATASCOPE WMS software functionality will be installed and configured to operate in accordance with this document.

Software Development (Non-Standard Functionality)

Where new functionality which is not present within the existing WMS system is required, a detailed functional and technical specification will be compiled, presented and signed off before any development starts.

Development will be completed by DATASCOPE . Once complete, a full test environment will be configured. The software is then tested for BAKKAVOR TEXAS and upon acceptance will be installed in your environment

User Acceptance Testing

Prior to implementation at the client a replication of the SYSPRO environment and data will be set up within the DATASCOPE virtual server environment.  The WMS software is then installed within this test environment and a thorough run through of each process is performed, in accordance with the Functional Specification Document.  This process includes the checking of the agreed software processes and finalizing all bar-code label designs if required.

On completion of the successful test run, the client is then invited to a one-day User Acceptance Testing (UAT) walkthrough of all processes.  Client UAT sign-off at this stage is required.

On-Site Installation (Test Company)

This covers the installation and configuration of the DATASCOPE WMS software.

Training

After the UAT, a training plan will be agreed with the Project Sponsor.  Detailed training per function would follow and staff attendance feedback would be given to the Project Sponsor.

We suggest that a “super user” per area be selected and trained on all relevant modules and/or processes.  An overall “system administrator” needs to be selected to attend all training so as to act as the first line of support after go-live. This individual should be of a high calibre, a logical thinker and competent to problem-solve.

Site training and implementation costs have been estimated but would be managed on a time and material basis if training exceeds the budgeted hours.

Go Live

Rule number one in any software system implementation is to only “go live” when all required project plan tasks have been successfully completed and when the DATASCOPE project team as well as the the client steering committee have agreed to go live.

Constant project plan monitoring will be in place to ensure that the various deadlines are met.

On Site Handholding

We have budgeted in our costing for consultants to be on site for a set period of time after the go-live.
